About Eiluned Lewis
Eiluned Lewis was a Welsh writer and artist. She was born in 1900 in Ystradgynlais, Wales and went on to study at the Royal College of Art in London. Lewis is best known for her novels and short stories, many of which explore the lives of women in rural Wales. Her work often deals with themes of love, loss and the struggle for independence. Home educated until the age of 14
Levana School, Wimbledon 14-18
(taught drama by Miss Fogerty one of the leading pioneers of drama education in UK and founded Royal School of Speech and Drama)
offered a scholarship to go onto the stage. JM Barrie did not like this idea.
She tried to get into Oxford and got a scholarship to Lady Margaret Hall.
Unfortunately to get in, she also had to pass "Responsions" and she was useless at maths so she couldn't take up her scholarship.
